They will learn to work with the fundamental concepts of academic writing, from reading to analyzing texts and questions, reasoning with evidence, organizing persuasive and well-structured arguments and communicating ideas in clear and effective prose. Key concepts of academic argument—such as thesis, motive, evidence, and structure—will be introduced. Strategies for reading, analyzing complex texts, and applying APA formats will be explored.
